Deja Vu
Got my son a COVID test yesterday. Apparently, I am a novice at such things, because while my friend, who also got her son a COVID test, received his results before they even got home, here we sit, quarantined 29 hours later with nothing. So. Luckily I work from home, so the general state of my weekday hasn’t been terribly disrupted, but this is a kid in his Freshman year of high school, who was knocking it out of the park. Until Monday. The good news is, he’s caught up on YouTube viewing, which is good news not because of the YouTube situation, but because he’s feeling well enough to watch TV.
Tennessee is weird. Two years ago, you had to have a doctors note to miss one day of school for being sick. That was a state law. It only lasted one year because, well COVID. I remember being pissed about that, like so you’re telling me, big bad state of Tennessee, that I can’t keep my son at home when he has a fever, and yes, I use the mom method of cheek against forehead, but after seventeen years of momdom I have this down to a science. Now, they won’t let you come to school if you’re sick at all. That’s irony. So it’s chicken soup and pizza roll preparation in between meetings for me, and honestly I can’t complain, because while I don’t like to see my kids sick, I also am realizing they’re almost grown and then who the hell will need me to bake up a batch of fake pizza?
Also. I think people should be able to make up their own minds and stuff, generally speaking, but IMO this COVID situation has gotten way out of control. Sheesh, people. I feel certain if COVID caused giant oozing ulcers all over your face, there’d be lines out the door, sleeves rolled up. If COVID had the side-effect of shrinking lips until they were basically just little thread-sized lines, we’d be at 100%. Respiratory illness, though, does not seem to inspire the masses.
All this is to say it’s a Tuesday, and amidst the savory smell of ready-baked pizza and the chatter of some dude playing a video game while talking about a video game, I thought it would be nice to point out that vaccines are safe and effective. You might want to consider getting one, if you haven’t already.
